Geography
Srivijaya was located on parts of present day Indonesia and all of Malaysia. the Equator runs righ through Indonesia, so the area is almost entirely tropical. It experiences each year a dry season and a wet season because of monsoon winds that bring heavy, wet air to Asia during some of the year and crisp, dry air the other part. The area is along the ring of fire. Indonesia has about one hundred active volcanoes. Volcanic ash makes the soil more fertil, but volcanic eruptions also tend to be dangerous and destructive.
